Massive response to blood donation camp at Rayat and Bahra , 248 donate blood
Kharar March 11,2010 : Over 248 students donated blood at a blood donation camp organized by Rayat and Bahra Bio Technology Centre of Excellence at its Sahauran campus , near Mohali, here today. The camp which was inaugurated by Dr. Raj Bahadur, Director-Principal Govt. Medical College Hospital Chandigarh witnessed a great enthusiasm amongst the students, who gathered in big numbers since morning to donate blood. A team of Doctors from department of transfusion medicine Govt Medical College Hospital sector 32, Chandigarh could only manage to collect 248 units out of the total of 1210 students who got registered for the blood donation camp.
Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chairman, Rayat-Bahra group while welcoming the guests informed that such blood donations camps are organized by the Rayat & Bahra group at regular intervals from the past 4 years as part of the group’s social commitment to the cause of humanity and saving precious human lives. Sardar Bahra said that he is glad that the staff members and the students of Rayat & Bahra group Sahauran campus work cohesively to hold such camps which serve a much larger purpose otherwise. The camp saw participation of the students from Rayat and Bahra group’s Institute of Engineering and Bio Technology, College of Engineering and Bio Technology for Women, Institute of Management, Institute of Pharmacy, College of Law, College of Education, Institute of Hotel Management and Institute of Leadership Training added Sardar Bahra.
While speaking in the occasion Dr. Raj Bahadur applauded the efforts made by the group to inculcate the sense of responsibility within the students of helping and saving the lives of their fellow citizens and hence laying such a philanthropic precedent for others to follow, by organizing such camps. He was also overwhelmed by the initiative taken by the staff members and the students of Rayat & Bahra for saving the human lives of thousands who need it desperately. He requested Sardar Gurvinder Singh Bahra to increase the frequency of such camps in near future.
