The Millennium School organizes rare graduation ceremony at school level
Graduation at school level comes with novelty for Millennium kids
Mohali, March 22,2010: Graduation ceremony organized at The Millennium School, Mohali witnessed a rare trend in the modern day schooling which was manifest for the first time ever in the region. Hinged on the philosophy that a student’s life in The Millennium School is segregated into various stages, the graduation ceremony witnessed the cross over of KG students going into primary school, Class V students onto middle school and Class VIII going to senior school. The remarkable ceremony marked a clear departing from the usual convocations and graduation ceremonies even as the novel concept accorded little students an unprecedented opportunity to realize and internalize the change over in terms of graduating to the higher levels of learning at schooling level.
While detailing about the idea behind this ceremony, Ms Komal Singh, Principal, The Millennium School said that as per Millennium Learning System, the learning process of a student is divided into 4 stages which go up till class VIII which is highest class in the school as now. The cross over from one stage to the other is marked by such graduation ceremonies which are brief, simple but impactful in the subconscious minds of little ones who nurture a feeling of belongingness and self pride at the school level. Often the psychological realization of graduating to other level is ceremonially depicted by either school leaving after matric or plus two as well as convocation ceremonies at college level. But seldom does such a thing been tried at school level which is extremely relevant for the mental development of the children, added Ms Komal Singh.
Even as the ceremony saw felicitation of meritorious students during the occasion KG students were elated to appreciate graduating to the primary level learning system. Students of class VIII, the highest class in the school also shared their experiences during the occasion.
