Chandigarh, November 5
Mukat Hospital Chandigarh got its name registered in the annals of history today with surgery from Mukat Hospital being telecasted live at 3rd Indo-European Course on Revascularization [IECR] at prestigious George Pompidou Hospital Amphitheatre in Paris.
The conference which discussed and analyzed the latest developments in the field of Interventional cardiology saw participation of more than one thousand cardiologists from USA, South America, Australia, South East Asia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh besides the top Cardiologists from India and Europe.
Dr. Ravi Inder Singh, the Medical director of Mukat Hospital said, “This is the only hospital north of Delhi that had been selected for live telecast of cases to this international cardiac meeting.”
He added that it was a great honor for Mukat Hospital as till date none of the cardiac centers north of Delhi including PGI Chandigarh & Rohtak have ever been invited to perform live case through satellite in any cardiology conference.
Mukat Hospital Senior consultant, Invasive Cardiology and Director of Cardiac Cath Lab at Mukat Heart Institute, Chandigarh, Dr Sudheer Saxena and his team show cased and demonstrated their interventional skills live at this joint conference of top Indian and European Interventional Cardiologists. The participants at Paris not only saw this case being performed live but also interacted & discussed the nuances of the case with Dr Saxena.
Dr Sudheer Saxena said that patient who underwent procedure during live surgery is 59 years old and suffered from severe angina on walking or exercising.
“He had under gone bypass surgery in 1997. On reinvestigation at our hospital it was found that out of three bypass grafts he had received, one was totally closed while other two had more than 95 percent blockages. With patient’s consent, it was decided to open up blockages in these grafts so as to restore blood flow to heart,” said Dr Saxena, who has till date performed more than ten thousand diagnostic and more than five thousand coronary angioplasty procedures.
The Chief patron of the meeting was the World renowned Cardiologist from France, Dr Alan Cribier. Besides Dr Cribier, the Course directors included many famous US cardiologists like Dr Greg Stone, Dr Fayaz Shawl, Dr. Marc Silvestri etc. Dr. Vivek Gupta was the only Course Director from India.
His Excellency Mr Ranjan Mathai, Ambassador of India in France inaugurated the conference.
