Grand parents steal show at celebrations

With grey hair the grandparents of kids from Small Wonders School with Super Stars of City Beautiful Club set ramp on fire at Grandparents Day celebrations held at Fortis Hospital Mohali today.

Participating in fashion show christened Retro - 70’s, the grandfathers walked down the ramp in bell-bottoms and check shirts, while grandmothers flaunted kurti and chudidaar.

Dr. Ashish R. Banerji, Director, Fortis Hospital Mohali was the chief guest of occasion.

Addressing the gathering Sandeep Singh, Director, Small Wonders School said the day celebrated being grandparents and the kind of responsibility it brings.
Apart from its sizzling fashion show, well dressed grand couple Mr & Mrs M.R. Ahuja were also honored. The award for tallest grandmother went to Mrs Puspa Nagra, Mrs kamlesh was found to be shortest grandmother, Mrs Tejinder Kaur walked away with award for being grandmother with longest hair.

In his address Dr. Banerjee spoke on importance of a stress free life and urged all grandparents to enjoy this phase in their lives as a golden period. He highlighted importance of a healthy and disease free life and the ways to maintain high quality.

He highlighted Golden Age Club, which is a specific initiative by Fortis Hospital to express its respect and appreciation for senior citizens of the country. As members of this exclusive club, senior citizens shall have privilege to access world class medical facilities at special concessions and discounts.


The grandparents of school kids also participated in one minute games, drawing contest, grandparents carrying maximum number of commodities too bagged prizes.

They enjoyed naming seven movies of actor Raj Kapoor in a minute and participated zealously in the QUESTION ROUND.

Most interesting part of celebrations was the drawing activity wherein grandparents drew about memories their childhood.

The well-dressed, well-coordinated and most talented couples were also awarded. They were MR Ahuja, Jatinder Singh and SK Batish .
