40 students short-listed for Permanent Commission in Indian Army at Rayat-Bahra
Females find maiden entry in army through campus recruitment at Rayat-Bahra

Ropar, September 1

Continuing its tradition of excellence and commitment towards student community, the Rayat Institute of Engineering & Information Technology, Railmajra, got female candidates short-listed with the Indian army for first time ever through campus recruitment drive. The only institute in area listed with the army headquarters, the RIEIT witnessed a unique phenomenon of 2009 batch students being short-listed for placement with army in the year 2011.

S Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Vice Chairman Rayat-Bahra Group said that in its endeavor to help students get placed with quality employers, Rayat-Bahra group held a placement drive with the Indian army under 19th university entry scheme for permanent commission in Indian army July (2010 – 2011), wherein students are selected for working with the army on a set criteria. “This was for the first time that females were short-listed through campus recruitment. 40 of our students have got short-listed including 23 boys and 17 girls,” he added.

A team comprising of Lt. Col Ashutosh Sharma, Maj V Gogai and Capt Vikram Kumar conducted the drive. Lt Col Sharma appreciated the quality turn out of participants. The written and physical test of short-listed candidates will be conducted at Allahabad.

Eligible Male And Female students of fifth and seventh semester of batch 2010 and 2011 appeared for the drive. This included 48 females and 63 male students of 2010 batch and 22 male students for batch 2011.

The visiting team from army gave a presentation about prospective in army and the honor it brings to civil life. Group discussion followed the presentation.
