Van Mahostav celebrations at Small Wonders

The van mahotsav week celebrations concluded today at Small Wonders School, Phase VII, Mohali. Chief guest at the occasion, Mr. Balwinder Singh (IAS), Additional Chief Administrator, GMADA planted sapling at the school premises sending out strong message for each one to plant a tree.
Students and staff members celebrated the concluding day making a contribution towards ensuring greener future. Sandeep Singh, Director, Small Wonders School said that this was an endeavor of school to sensitize children on environmental issues.
Student of class III Palakshee welcomed the guests at occasion. Tiny tots of UKG-1 recited prayer song God made the world as lovely as can be. Students of class II presented a tree song named trees are our best friends. A though provoking fancy dress presentation on Save Mother Earth was delivered.
The class III students put in a spectacular performance where they enacted on theme importance of trees. Children depicted the importance of trees, effects of deforestation and need to conserve the wild life habitat.
While appreciating the performances in his address, Mr. Balwinder Singh (IAS), Additional Chief Administrator, GMADA said that only when children and youth of nation are sensitized, the country gets its torchbearers. He lauded the efforts of children in celebrating the great festival.
During the van mahotsav week, array of activities were taken up. Playway classes participated in coloring contest. Classes from nursery to UKG were a part of fancy dress contest. Students from class I to III participated in slogan writing competition.
The students even took out a rally Phase VII Mohali market. They raised slogans against the use of polythene bags and distributed hand made paper bags to the residents. Children had made these bags themselves.
Winners of coloring contest are Parneet, Akem, Ritisha and Kangana. The fancy dress contest winners from nursery include Vanya, Harleen, Raghav and Shauryaveer, Vedansh and Agampreet. The LKG students were Japneet and Ridham. From UKG Tripatkaran, Ravinderdeep, Harveen Kaur and Akshita Pathak secured various places.
Kanishk from I A secured first place in slogan writing competition. She wrote Give the life to plants and take life from plants- if you will chop I’ll sob. Roohani stood first in Class I-B with slogan “Grow More Trees – Get Oxygen Free”. Ashish stood first in Class-II with Slogan “Don’t be mean, Go Green” and Arsh Randev secured the first position in Class-III with the slogan “Reuse the Past, Recycle the Present, Save the future – Go Green”.
