Mohali, June 21.
Dr S M Bose, the eminent senior consultant surgeon and former head of department of surgery at PGIMER Chandigarh has joined Grecian Hospital.

An awardee of coveted Dr B C Roy National award, Dr Bose has an extensive experience in surgery. He has been serving cancer patients with his surgical skills.

Dr SS Samra, Managing Director, Grecian Hospital, Mohali said, “An affiliation with Dr Bose will further strengthen us on professional and academic front. His experience and expertise will guide us to serve ailing mankind in a better way.”

He joined the pioneer institute that has onus of treating maximum number of cancer patients from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. Oncopathology and Oncoradiology comprehensively back up its three departments of radiation oncology, surgical oncology and medical oncology.

Besides being a highly decorated surgeon of country, he is a prolific academician who has hundreds of health related articles to his credit. He has been teaching post graduates and undergraduates for last 37 years. His book on breast cancer is the basis of learning for all doctors treating cancers in country.

“Having closely watched patients caught in grim economical condition during ailments, I have committed myself to providing affordable cancer care for everybody. Joining Grecian Hospital has given me yet another opportunity in make this dream come true as the hospital too believes in concept of affordable cancer care,” said Dr Bose.

He has been a Faculty Member for the last 28 years. Scores of surgeons trained by Prof. Bose are now occupying prestigious positions (professors, heads of departments, consultants) in country and abroad.

Former president Association of Surgeons of India and that of Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology, Dr Bose was awarded Dr. B C Roy Silver Jubilee Research Award for the year 2000 for original and outstanding work in the field of medical and allied sciences done in India by the Government of India. He was also awarded Dr. B C Roy National Award for Eminent Medical Teacher in 1997.
